Scottish actress, singer/songwriter and dancer, Georgia moved to the U.S. right out of high school. With a history in Musical Theatre Georgia has been dubbed a “True Triple Threat” by some of Broadway’s & television’s top producers. In 2008, Georgia became the first non-American USO Liberty Bell where she performed on many different stages to include Dick Clarks’ New Years Rockin’ Eve Show, which was viewed by over 22.6 million people worldwide. With the USO, Georgia sang the American National Anthem at the New York Mets' Citi Field and many other patriotic events across the United States and and through the USO eventually met and married a US Marine of her own.
Georgia continued to show her dedication to American service-members by joining the American Bombshells particular working with the Wounded Warrior Project. With the Bombshells she performed the national anthem for the NASDAQ's opening bell, singing by VA bedsides, NY Veterans Day Parade and welcoming our Troops home.
In 2013 Georgia was beyond delighted to be tuning back into her Scottish roots and joined the Highland Divas, singing the songs from her childhood most true to her heart - The Highland Divas have performed both Nationwide and Internationally, Pearl Harbor, Madison Square Garden, B.B Kings, Carnegie Hall, Glasgow's SECC and more and are one of the annual headlining acts for New York's Tartan Week.
Through the Divas and singing of traditional Scots and Irish songs, Georgia later discovered that she had a gift for songwriting and that opened her up into working on a Celtic/Country-Appalachian inspired album of her own - with the mentoring help of Craig Weir and composing help of Josh Landsburgh of Scottish band Gleadhraich/Craig Weir and the Cabalistic Calvary fame.....
Picking the finest of musicians; Georgia and Josh introduced their music during this year's NYC Tartan Week where they were accidentally named "The Georgia Johnson Band" by Host Craig Weir. They instantly agreed it worked and from that it stuck and the band was formed! With a number of songs being created monthly Josh and Georgia are excited to get into the studio to start creating demos that labels will be excited about. With our first show being told to close with an Encore performance, we are certain this album will not disappoint.
Stay tuned for further developments of The Georgia Johnson's Band.
